FAQ #1
How do I know if my company is a good fit for this service?
Any small business is a good candidate for an Essential Marketing Vision Workout. Nearly every company needs some improvement in their Package, Brand, or People aspects of their marketing. But, not all of our Workouts are applicable to every small company. For example, sole proprietors may learn a great deal from our Brand workouts, but find that our workouts that focus on employees don’t really apply to their situation. We note exceptions such as these in each workout’s description.

How do I know which Workout is best for my situation?
Our SelfScore is designed to help you discover your company’s marketing strengths and weaknesses. We recommend you take the SelfScore, and then focus on where you’ll get the most immediate gain. For example, maybe you have a strong sense of identity, of brand. But possibly you are unsure where you are positioned relative to your competition. Then, you would skip over our first Brand workout, Identify the Identity, and complete our Plant the Brand Banner workout. Or, maybe you have a great staff, but haven’t integrated them into your marketing planning and implementation. Our People: Achievers workout will help you learn how to use your best staff members to more effectively market your company and earn more profits. Download the SelfScore.
FAQ #3
How long does this all take?
The average Essential Marketing Vision Workout takes a few hours to work through. We supply you some pencil-on-paper exercises and questions to fill out, plus several pages of text to read. But this isn’t theory and it’s not a class you are taking. Each Workout has one ultimate purpose: to help your business make more money.
You’ll want to implement and integrate the insights you gain via the Workout into your business. This process typically takes between 4 and 12 weeks depending on:
• Your company.
• The industry you are in.
• Your staff’s willingness to embrace change.
• The scope of the workout itself.

FAQ #5
Essential Marketing Workout Descriptions
Brand
Brand forms the base of our triangle. Brand is the foundation your business is built upon in the mind of the customer. When you put a heavy load on a weak foundation, a crooked and cracked house is the inevitable outcome. It’s no different when building your business.
So, weaving a Brand Banner that customers and employees can carry around and wave at just the right moment—for you, unsolicited—is an ultra-effective way for your small business to advertise. This Brand Banner must be easy to repeat and memorable. Your advocates will bear your Brand Banner because of the natural human inclination we all have to share helpful information with other people.
Identify the Identity
Many business owners and marketing managers need help in clarifying and clearly stating their own company Brand. This Workout is rich in methods designed to help you do just that. If you are at all unsure about who your company is or what it stands for to your customers, then start with this workout.
Plant the Brand Banner
This Workout will help you identify where your brand is, relative to the competition. Remember, not all competition is visible. This workout really helps you to clarify your position in the marketplace.
Wave the Brand Banner
Promotions are critical to business. This Workout focuses on methods to help you promote your business. If you have a strong sense of who your company is, and where you are relative to your competition, but feel you aren’t doing a good job of promoting your brand, then this third workout in our brand series is tailored for you.
Package
Package is really the image you present to your customer. It’s similar to the clothes you wear. Brand is like identity, but Package is the clothing or the wrapper the identity is presented in. We have divided our Package Workouts into two different aspects: Climate and Staff. When you get used to the idea of Package, you can further subdivide the concept into other groups; whatever makes sense for your unique business. After all, you know your business better than we ever will.
Adjust the Climate
When we mention Climate, we are really discussing the physical surroundings around your customer. This Workout is designed to help you adjust your store’s climate. Please note that this workout is written with the retail store in mind; however its principles can be adapted to your business if you use a sales force to communicate with your customers.
Staff
This workout involves the interaction of your employees with your customers while the customer is in your store. This workout is specifically designed to help you improve the way your staff interacts with your customers inside your store.
If your staff works with customers remotely via the phone or in-person, but outside of your store or office, then with a little creativity you can adapt the principles you learn in this workout to your specific business needs. Of course, if you are a sole proprietor, much of this workout won’t apply to you. However, you may find it useful if you plan on hiring staff in the near future.
People
Please note that the People side of our Transit Triangle is green for a reason. Green is the color of growth. Things that don’t grow typically die. Only customers are going to fuel that growth, and only employees are going to nurture those customers. Of course, we all need to focus on our customers. But we must also concentrate on our employees, because they are the keys to ongoing profitable relationships with those customers.
Achievers
You know who the achievers are in your company. They’re that 20% of the workforce that is dedicated to the company and excel in their positions. They are the people that the company is built upon. They are the people that you count on day-in and day-out to get the job done, right. This Workout will teach you how to create and leverage this group to assist you in your marketing. If you are a sole proprietor, this workout probably won’t be applicable for you.
The Crucial Customer
Marketing Hawks strives to “teach our clients to look at their businesses through their customers’ eyes.” This Workout will help you attract, identify, and retain customers. These three concepts aren’t original with us. A quick internet search will find hundreds of articles and books on how to attract, identify and retain customers.
What is different about our Workout is that we have designed a series of questions, exercises, and action steps to help you specifically uncover and discover critical information about your customers. We then show you how to use that information to achieve greater profits. Throughout this workout we discuss your best customers. Not just any customers, but your best customers.
